Currencies and rates

Each Integration has its own currency settings. These control the currencies your customers can pay in and how amounts relate to your business's base currency.

Choose your currencies

  1. Open the Integration and its currency settings.
  2. Choose a base currency for your business amounts.
  3. Enable the payment currencies you want to offer.
  4. Set the exchange rates and a default payment currency.
  5. Save, then check a Test payment in each currency you offer.

The default is used when EuniPay cannot choose a supported payment currency from the customer's location. It does not replace the location information required for tax checks.

Set a rate

A rate says how much payment currency equals one unit of your base currency. Check the direction before saving it.

Changing a rate affects new payment calculations. It does not rewrite completed payments or their receipts. The base currency is locked after the first successful Live transaction.

In Add currency or Update rate, choose Manual or ECB reference rate for that Integration, environment and payment currency. Existing rates stay manual until you change them. ECB values are read-only; switching back restores the most recent manual value for you to confirm before saving.

EuniPay fetches ECB euro reference rates independently. For a non-euro base, it divides the payment currency's euro reference by the base currency's reference. The preview shows the reference date and fetch time. These are pricing references, not the payment provider's actual settlement rates.

Successful references are cached for one hour. If refresh fails, EuniPay can use a verified reference no more than seven calendar days old, with a warning; without one, new automatic conversions are blocked. Manual currencies remain available. Existing valid quotes, payments and related refunds retain their frozen rate and amounts. Source and reference dates remain in the rate history.

Check what customers see

Display settings control how prices are written, such as the symbol and number of decimal places. They do not change the amount charged.

Use Showing prices to connect these settings to your application's price display. For the final amount at checkout, see VAT and the payment total.
